Two channel video installation

In this work, I investigate how symbols affect our daily lives. The central concept is to explore the relationship between the inside and outside, in the various iterations of these words. I built a mosque of sugar cubes, placing it near an anthill. The ants naturally became attracted to the mosque, and began wandering around it, climbing on its walls, and breaking into the sugar grains. Were they attracted to the mosque out of ritualistic impulses or out of a more basic instinct to build or demolish?
