One channel video installation
How to represent a fundamentalist? I explore this question by filming four young boys as they shave the foam off black balloons. In Iraq, boys hoping to become barbers, practice on balloons to learn the trade. I waited anxiously to see what would happen to the balloons as they were being shaved, or “interfered with”. Like in real life, most of the balloons reacted by blowing themselves up.
