Photography installation
NOWADAYS is an installation of 13 large digital prints in a public space. The images are inspired by paramilitary operations. Modern progenitors of aesthetics (a.k.a. Graduates of the Academy of Fine Arts, Helsinki, class of 2005) pose in fatigues and arms, validating the elevation of camouflage from trenches to trousers. They are glossy models advertising the coolness of combat, complete with the “tag line”: War has been commodified, and WE are all mercenaries.
