The BBC recently broadcasted a documentary about Iraqi contemporary arts after the re-opening of the Iraqi pavilion at the Venice Biennale this summer. Imagine: Iraq in Venice is directed by Jill Nicholls and part of a series dealing with arts presented by Alan Yentob. The documentary features various interview segments with Adel Abidin in his studio or working at the Iraqi pavilion.

Read more...Adel Abidin will present new works for the Venice Biennal 2011 in the Iraq Pavilion. After 35 years of absence Iraq will return to one of the most influential art event. Other artists present in the pavilion will be Halim Al Karim, Ahmed Alsoudani, Ali Assaf, Azad Nanakeli and Walid Siti. The Pavillon of Iraq will open on June 2nd 2011.
